I just bought the Helm manual for my 1992, covers all models and is EXCELLENT, well worth the $90 I gave for it. Yes, these things are pricey but the info is great and buying new is the way to go. I ordered mine on a Monday and had it Thursday, and that was shipped to Hawaii. The service manual is kinda like a chiltons but 10 times better, excellent info. My B4C has the 1LE brakes and this manual cover them in great detail.

Well worth the investment. I think everyone here that owns one will tell you it's more than a book, it's a tool.
I own (3), and yea over 320 bucks worth of books, but money well spent. --opps I also have the 2000 GM tsb's, so there's another 70 bucks.

Yup. As was stated above.
The only problem I have with the book is it refers to GM specific tools for testing. Other than that I think it's more worth the money than say an extended warranty.

The helm manual is the actual shop manual for the specific year camaro not a generic manual (chiltons,Haynes) that covers all years, the reason there are not many on e-bay if at all is that the people that buy them, keep them or give them to the person who buys their car. Pay the $90 and get the manual, you won't regret it.

Would this helm shop book a person, like me, who has NEVER done any work on their car?

For example, if i wanted to install eibach springs, or pull the motor, taking apart the interior and putting it back together (a new one) and such?

This summer i plan on taking out the 305 and parting it, and i want to be able to take out the transmission and the motor myself and install new ones as well. If this book can help me with all that then i will definetly order it.

I went to the site.. which one am i looking to get, there are several different manuals they got there

thanks alot guys

Also, anyone here who has just learned how to build a motor? I want to know how you learned...

I know from these boards, but i mean, are there books which i can get from barnes and noble or borders that can help me build the 383 i want to build. I want to know how to build it from the block and such..

I am mostly worried about fuel lines, and electrical work, and i am assuming most of putting hte motor together is bolting things here and there with gaskets an dsuch, but i think i am wayy wrong on that.

Anyone useful and quality books are much appreciated

Thanks again

Try http://www.factoryautomanuals.com/ for used factory service manuals. I just ordered mine from them -- $40 and it's in really good condition. They didn't have my car listed initially, but I checked periodically and finally found one.
