Stock 92 Z28 350 TPI: Correct Idle?
I own a 1992 Camaro Z28 with a stock 5.7L V8 350.
Since the day I bought the car in 1998, the car as far as I know has always been set to the same idle. I am being told by a friend who builds his engines and owns 2 3rd gen Camaro's that this is way too HIGH..
This is how the stats go:
[Factory 4-speed automatic /w overdrive, I HAVE A/C however pump is unplugged because the A/C is empty, and don't like the A/C]
a). Car in PARK - Idle is around 1250rpm
http://www.camarosource.ca/park_brake_on.jpg
b). Car in DRIVE - Idle just below 1000rpm (850-900rpm)
http://www.camarosource.ca/in_drive.jpg
I am being told it should be around 600rpm and that my Park and Brake rpm rating should not change?
Is this true?
Why is it being set to this if this should be like 600rpm?

seems to say the same as him (600rpm in drive) where as mine is like 850-900rpm...

NOTE: Please re-read my post. I entered the RPM backwards..
The correct is
Idle (PARK) 1250rpm or so
Idle (DRIVE) 850-900rpm
Being told DRIVE should be around 600rpm

I would say hook up a scan tool. Maybe your dash is off. My brothers 92 z28 dash is off by 350 rpms

never seen those gauges before, but i noticed that your car is still cold? or maybe thats just the way the gauges are, all cars are going to idle higher cold than at operating temperatures?
