i dunno about under. but maybe if you cut a 14" diamiter circle in the hood, that'd be perfect. lol

It might "fit" if you don't care whether air can flow into it or not.

Yep, with my new intake, I had to ditch the 1'' carb spacer and go from a 4'' filter to a 3'' one.

Yep, Stealth, not sure of the height change. wow, idle-7200 huh, I thought I saw that for the Stealth too, guess not, as the Stealth is idle-6800 I believe.

How often you goin to rev to 7200?

probably never but at least I know I can now. I was gonna get an edelbrock intake but there power bands suck....performer is the powerband i need but i wanted something that pulled to 6k since ill probably venture there everyonce and awhile. Im really glad i chose the holley intake it looks so much better than the edelbrock actually.

Well, maybe with the right cam, valve springs, and ignition system you can. And if you don't have the right rods, you might not do it more than once....

That looksa lot like the performer rpm. my performer RPM + 850 Holley + 14X3 K&N (2" dropbase) fit under my stock hood.

4 inch tall K&N that does not clear the stock hood
thats the reason. After a performer RPM and CARB you only have about 1" of hood clearance. You need a 3" tall aircleaner with a 2" drop base.

Of course, that means that all the engine's air has to come in through that massive filter element, squeeze through the 1" slot you just created between the carb and air cleaner lid, make an immediate 90°, and then into the carb & intake... So what difference does it make how much paper is out there around the edge, or how big the intake runners are, or what diameter the carb barrels are, with a restriction like that on top of the carb...

I'm sure that's what he means, as it doesn't allow for the best air flow capabilities.

restriction like what?? the drop base??

a dropbase aircleaner only becomes a restriction if you let it.

K&N developed a thing called the X-tereme Lid and this flows roughly 500 CFM through the TOP of your air-cleaner, a perfect addon for a drop base.
As for the restriction presented by USING a dropbase, remember the biggest restriction is where the highest point of the base presents itself to the top of the actual air-cleaner top. Yes theres less room for air, but you still have a 3" element to bring air through. But like exhaust, your only as good as your weakest link. In this case its that bend... But keep in mind its like putting that restrictive Y-pipe on then adding a huge single exhaust... the restrictive Y-pipe impedes flow (weakest link) but the huge exahaust that comes after it still helps out (3" area)
IMO, you DO lose flow by putting a dropbase aircleaner on, but you can get it right back as quick as you lost it.
