Valve Springs

Hey all I am in the process of helping a buddy with a cam swap. He has a 1987 Z-28 with a roller 305. He is installing a LT4 cam and still has stock valve springs. Will the LT4 sptings fit his pockets in the heads(don't want to remove the heads) or do you know of any other ones he can use without machine work?

springs

Those springs should be ok as long as you dont go over 480 lift after that enginekits.com powerhouse has spring to 550 lift for 40 bucks

yes the stock springs truthfuly they are cheap enough to upgrade enginekits .com has springs to .550 lift for 40 dollars and self aligning roller tip rockers for additional lift 1.6 for 79 dollars its worth the upgrade.

well you are cutting it close with lift if they are old with alot of miles I would up grade. its your choice make sure you turn it over by hand first and check for binding

trash the gm springs and rotators and buy a set of springs and retainers from comp or lunati. it's fairly cheap and easy to elininate a weak link in the valve train by doing this.

don't you need to worry about the stock press in rocker studs popping out if you get too stiff springs? How much is too much for the press in studs?

going up to a .500 lift spring or even a .510 lift should not be a problem this is what a typical zz4 lift is and they have pressed in rocker studs. with his lift he should be ok
