Oil and Filters

What kinda oil and filters are you guys using? Right now I'm running Valvoline VR1 SAE 50 and a Fram extended guard filter. And what are the difference in oils? I've noticed most oil has numbers like 10w30 and what I'm using is SAE 50, what do these mean?

I use mobil 1 10w30 and ac delco filters. Why did you pick that oil put in your car? sae is society of automotive engineers. In 10w30, 10 and 30 are just arbitrary numbers that the oil has been assigned.. they correspond to a temperature range that the oil can be used in. W means winter, so the oil is suited for freezing temperatures. The 10 shows that the oil will not become thicker than a 10 weight oil at low temperatures, and the 30 means that it will be as thick as a 30 weight oil at higher temperatures. Multi viscocity oils are made to have the benefits of both thick and thin oils. Do some searches and you'll see that most people think fram is bad quality and amsoil and mobil 1 synthetic oils are the best oils, while some kind of purolater filter is favored with the ac filters.
