Car's dying at stops!!!

Alright, I know I have some kind of fuel problem. I am assuming a bad injector....but that's why I'm here.....I'm not sure!!

About a week ago the ol' Z was starting to start rough, instead of jumping to life in the first turn of the key. It also started to want to, or DID die when backing up and shifting back into drive, or from driving down the road, she would want to do or DID die when coming to a stop when the RPM's dropped all the way down to idle. She runs great at normal driving RPM's, it's only down at very low RPM's that it happens, or like I said, when starting her. To top it all off, if I romp on the gas in nuetral or park, the whole garage or the area I'm in reaks of gas!! She burns it out of the tailpipes too in drive when I push her hard.

First thought was that old *** o2 sensor..so I changed it out. I thought I had the prob tackled cause she ran great again......for a little while!! So I know something is kicking too much gas into the ol' cylinders...but that's why I'm asking you guys...maybe it's an injector (I have already run 2 bottles of injector cleaner in it) or another sensor of some sort. I have even adjusted my TPS. I cleaned my IAC a while back, but I am not ruling that out because when I tried to push the retracting gizmo in there back in to reset it, it didn't want to retract at all...so, I'm thinking it may be that.

Any solid thoughts gentleman?? I appreciate any help you can be. Thanks

Gibby

You might have guessed that my first thought is the IAC. When you retract the IAC pintle, it doesn't simply "push" into thet rack gears. You have to move the pintle side to side while gently pushing inward to work the pintle teeth into the gears on either of the stepper coils. And the process will take a few minutes.

I'd check it again and make sure you haven't damaged anything by forcing the pintle against the seat in the TB on installation.

If the cold idle is about 1,200 RPM and it slowly drops as the coolant warms up, the IAC is working. If not, you might have a dead one.
