Engine torque chain.
I'm going to chain the engine in this week, in my 86 Z28.
How much slack, if any should be in the chain. I figured on as little as possible.
Right now the plan is to attach it to an accesory bolt on the driver's head, and then weld a link to the flat part of the "frame"
any other method's, places or suggestions as to where the frame side of the chain goes
The heads are iron, and the only accesories are the waterpump, and the alternator, so there's not a lot of intereference here.
thanks

yeah but mines a bit more work and a bit more high tech. i took a piece of 5/8" CR round and drilled and tapped each end for 3/8-24 and screwed a heim end in each end. welded a nut in the middle to make turning it easier. bolted one to the head. made two brackets out of 1 1/2"x1 1/2"x1/8" angle and bolted to the inner fender, used fender washers on the inside of the wheel well. the heim in the two angles is in double shear.

I already answered the same question in the racing forum.
I've done away with the torque chain setup and went to solid engine mounts. When the new engine goes in, the solid mounts come out in favor of a front motor plate. I'm starting to think that the mounts on the side of the block are deflecting the cylinder walls too much and causing the engine failures.
