Whisteling noice from pan? only when engine cold, can't find answer??

Hello.

I can't find answer on this with search...

So, I have just put together my 331 and it is running fine so far with good oil pressure, temp etc. but when I start it (cold) it makes this whistling sound that I cannot figure out.

The best I can describe it is like having Tweety the cartoon in there until it warms up..

I have ruled out v-belts and such and I hear it best from listening by the oil pan area, but one can also hear it pretty well from 15 feet away. It continues for a couple of minutes until it graduately dissapears. What can it be?

I am thinking oil pump, but what do I know...

The engine has new oil pump, (hi-vol) rings/bearings/cam/lifters/injectors and is also balanced/bored 030. It has a Pete J. gear drive.

Behind is a 700 R4 w. higher stall conv. (origin unknown)

Thanks.

i doubt if it's anything internal. i'd be looking at belts, try removing them and starting it, or the air being sucked in the TB.
