I have a '87 Iroc TPI 350 that I just bought. It was sitting for a while, the battery had a little juice, but not much. It used to turn over and start, rough, but it still started. The Batt. was really drained, I took it to the local parts place to see if it would hold a charge, but it tested BAD. So I get a new Battery, put it in the car, tighten up the cables, go to turn the key to accy's, I get power to every thing, lights work good, even the power seat moves fine, so I think ok, she should fire right up with the new Batt. and all. I go to turn the key over to start her, and I loose all power. I wait a minute, turn key back on, and get power to the instument panel again, try turning on ignition again, and this time the engine starts to turn over, but ever so slowly, not enough power to fully crank though, I notice that my voltage drops, and it sounds like the starter under me trying to work. Not sure what the problem is here, I'm thinking a short somewhere, but not sure where to check. Any help is appreciated.

Personally I would check for corrosion on the terminals and make sure that they are tight. Then I would check the wire going to the starter to make sure it's making good contact.

Good advice above. Check the starter connections, they may not be making good contact. Don't overlook your starter if everything else seems fine. You can remove it and have it tested for free. The stock starter in my camaro lasted 130k miles/14 years.
Thanks guy's I'll chech into it some more, and let you know what I found!
Went to tighten connections at battery today, to see if I can get her going again.
Tighten down battery cables, get instrument power and all accessory power, go to turn her over, no power, I loose all power to instruments, try it again, and notice a spark at battery connections, go to inspect, see that the connection at the hot (+) cable has gotten so hot for some reason, that the lead connector on the battery MELTED??? WTF??? the part where you actually screw the battery cable into has melted, no more threads, melted, brand new battery is now unusable, cannot screw battery cable post into the battery, as it is no longer there.
What can cause this to happen???

Wild guess, mind you, but it might be that the positive terminal did not ever have a good connection and at some point began to arc. Arcing generates a lot of heat and could easily melt a lead terminal. If you can reuse the connector, make sure to really clean it well so it makes good contact.Originally posted by lokast2k1
