Newbie needs help

While working on my car this evening a plume of white smoke came out of the exhaust. I am not very familiar with cars and any assistance in determining and fixing problem, if any, will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jeff

I was checking the fluid levels and just doing some other basic maintenance things. After I was done I cranked her up and just let her idle until I saw the smoke. The engine is a 350. There was also some blue smoke in it as well.

Like said white smoke usually means coolant being burned, blue smoke is oil being burned.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the cause of the smoke and ways to go about fixing it?

Thanks

Jeff

I haven't noticed any. The car doesn't seem to be leaking any fluids and it isn't overheating.

does it smoke all the time now? or was it just a single puff? you can try tasting the water/condensation that comes out of the exhaust (spit it out lol), if it tastes sweet then you're getting coolant in the engine and will most likely need to replace the head gaskets
