heater problems

I recently purchased an 86 Camaro SC. The AC has been removed and the heater is not working? When i drive the car i also notice an odor that smells like anitifreeze...What seems to be the problem? Do i need to replace my heater core? Shouldn't my heater still operate if the heater core is bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

blower

If the heater core is bad, shouldn't the blower motor still be working? Right know. no air blows out the vents at all? Can this be caused by the heater core?

No the air would still blow even with a bad heater core. Go check under the hood and see if everythings hooked up on the AC box...there is a connection on the box itself that has 4 prongs coming up. If the connection isnt hooked to that it will not blow. Try hooking that up and see what happens.
