posi rear

whats the cheapest way i could obtain a posi for my 86 trans am. as of now i have stock peg leg and its getting tiring of spinning one tire every time it rains / is there a kit to convert my diff to a posi unit or do i have to get a whole rear end off another car?

thanx

slponline sells takeout posi carriers for less than 100 bucks. They are 28 spline 3 series units...

No adapters in the diff. You have 26 spline axles. The cheap SLP posi requires 28 spline axles. Lots of different ways to get you more traction in the rear(limited slip/locker).... What do you plan on doing with the car, and how much do you want to spend?

Car: 86 Trans AM

Transmission: Built T56
Axle/Gears: Strange 12-bolt w/ 3.73
I know this is for 28 spline axles, but I just thought Ide post it. Helps with a visual of what the unit looks like, and gives an idea of what they will go for if you choose to buy one used or whatever. Just randomly found it, so I thought what the heck.

you can change your axles(for the SLP), or you can buy a posi specifically for your rear. check out www.jegs.com or www.summitracing.com
