cam swap
cam swap
I am buying the new motor tonite i think, and the heads and cam are off/out of the motor. Would this be a good time to perform a cam swap? How difficult would it be? What all is involved. ie how difficult is it to put in new lifters? It is a 4-bolt 350 with flattops and L98 heads. I will have an edlebrock performer intake and a 650 carb on top. I have the stock one legger and 2.73's but will change them eventually. There are headers, hi flow cat, and 3inch hooker exhaust. Sorry for the length, but I think that that is all useful when finding a cam, right? Thanks.

Is it a roller cam engine?
If not then try the Comp XE 262 or 268. Or the Crane PowerMax 272 or 278. Great on a street 350.

with the motor out, its the best time to put in a new cam.also a new timing chain and gears. get a cam kit with lifters.a good manual will walk you thru it -good to have when you forget something and follow break in procedures
