have reached an end ....

hello everyone.

first off my Z won't start. here's the story.

i was driving home during a heavy rainfall and went through a huge puddle where half way through the puddle my car died.
- at first i thought i was out of gas but not the case.
- with the partial ramair i have on my car i'm assuming the engine inhaled some water as well.
- i just replaced the starter (which needed replacing anyway)
got the car back together and still nothing

what else can i check or look for ???

if i have left some info out that you may need please ask i will tell cause i want my car back up ond running.

please help a thirdgen brother out

thanks

Kyle

Your problem sounds easier to fix than mine and hopefully I'll get some good suggestions..........

Check your distributor cap and rotor. Make sure they are in good shape and that water somehow did not get in the cap to short out the ignition system.

Pull all the plugs and crank the motor. If you sucked in some water, it got into the combustion chambers you will weaken the rod(s), water doesn't compress, and blow a rod or two out the side of the block. My girlfriend did that to my 91 Toyota, it was ugly.

While pulling the plugs, check your wires and make sure they are in good condition. Also pop the plug in the wire and use the motor as a ground and see if you are getting spark.

Hopefully this should give you a head start.

hey thanks

i did have the chance to check the cap and rotor, everything is fine there.

well i charged up the battery since might have been a factor in the car not starting but wasn't, still won't start - i get a single click but nothing turning over.

so i be looking for a short or some other electrical thing ??

this thing is bugging the crap out of me so please anything again would be much appreciated.

that happened to my 305! ouch I got water in it and it bent a rod. that starter did the same thing I tried to turn it by hand with no luck it bent the rod so it was hit by the crank counter weight.

If I were you go under the car (after pulling the plugs) and turn the fly wheel with a bar or vice grips it should turn.

then let us know what you find
