Well, I am thinking about buying that 89 GTA with the turbo/intercooler. But, I need some advice.

Would anyone with experience with these cars please let me know what I need to look for? I have no knowledge of these cars; I have never owned or driven a turbocharged car.

Are there any special maintanence requirements for these cars, beside more frequent oil changes?

Well make sure you let the turbo warm up before driving it, and cool down before you shut it off. Use synthetic oil.......hmmmm, thats all I can really think of right now.

 

yeah by brother owns a turbo coupe thunderbird he lets the car warm before going and cool down before turning off..

 

I think you are talking about the TTA. The GTA is either a 305 or 350.

 

Yes, my bad. It is the TTA. It is the first one I have ever seen, but it is the turbo-intercooled Trans Am, 20th anniversary edition pace car...

I am going to go and drive it today and see what I think of it.

actually, the tta is classified as a GTA.
read that in a GM something or the other. i'll see if i can dig it up.
there was a big argument about it awhile ago.
