short block

hi,
first off im on a budget. im only 16 so that biudget is not much, around 2500 for engine, intake, and exhaust mods. I disasembled the short block and brought it to this machine shop and they quoted me 1250! that doesn't even include parts, i went to another one and they were 1450 w/out parts. i think its cuz my crank needs regrinding so then the rods need to be resized and balbalabla. so anyways

to make a long story short

is there anywhere i can get a short block for under 1000?

thanks.
