oil in intake
oil in intake
Can a bad PVC valve let oil suck into the intake floor right under the carb? The center bolts on the intake were not too tight,(Carb bolts also loose ) so I am replacing the gaskets in hopes of eliminating the fouled plugs and high oil consumption on the 350.
MD83,
Yes, but that oil still has to be coming from somewhere. Most of the oil in the rocker area will drain back into the sump. There are baffles in stock rocker covers that shroud the PCV valve to prevent the PCV from drawing oil vapor created by push rod oiling. If you have aftermarket rocker covers, you may have a problem without the baffles.
Still, a new AC/Delco PCV valve is probably worth the $4-5 to be sure.

Yes, the aftermarket covers don't have baffles and water forms on the rubber hose to the carb. (car sits in the garrage a lot). Thanks for the reply.
I am looking at a new manifold and there seems to be too many types to choose ( Eliminate the EGR?).
