Smoking problems after Head/cam/intake swap

Hey guys,
I am having severe blowby, and lots of smoke. I got it back from the shop and the car has been giving me trouble with that. When i went to bring it back to the shop, i went to my friend's house (bro of owner of shop) and parked the car at his house. I couldn't restart the car 9can't hot start ebcause no ground from engine to frame rail DOh).
The guys bro came from the shop and started the dar right up...then the number 1 exhaust rocker came loose. It was backfiring through the intake on that valve. Can that explain the smoking? The smoking did not start right when i drove it out of the lot. It was gradual...then the damn thing made that horrible noise. i thought the roller rocker was smacking into the valve covers.

Plus, I didn't notice a big power difference over the stock Gen I crate engine heads.
17,500 miles on engine before this work.

Info below:

I had these added to it:

Keith Dorton single plane Intake (milled to correct angle with heads),
TFS Twisted wedge GR2 heads with beefier valvesprings (milled to 62ccs),
Comp cams XE284 Cam (used...250 miles on it, very good condition, basically broken in).
Comp 1.52 exhaust, 1.6 Intake Roller Rockers (Pro Magnum)
Comp Chromoly Pushrods (different sizes for int/exh)
--Forgot which sizes for what, but one is stock and one is longer.
I think intake is the longer one and the exh is stock.
MSD 6al Hei Kit (oil,box)
MDS Pro Billet distributor
Pete Jackson Timing gears
Holley 670 Street avenger carb.

Other:
Spark Plugs gapped to 50.
Breather in place of PCV.
12 degrees initial timing
58 degrees total.

Thanks!!.

-Dan

P.S. I didn't put in the lift bars yet, I'll send the brackets back. thanks!!
