Intake manifold question

Hey guys the Z is running great, now I want more power and I want to also make my car more appealing so that i can sell it. I have been offered $2500 as is, without paint, noncomplete interior,etc, if I put 3" exhaust to the tail pipe and get a new intake manifold. My car has the Q-Jet on it and already equipped with an aluminum intake. I am looking at the Edelbrock Performer Air Gap. Is there anything else similar to it? How does it perform on the Camaro? And if anyone has one in good shape that they want to sell please let me know. I just want to make sure I get the right thing for optimum performance.

Doesn't look like an air gap type. Text doesn't indicate anything to that effect, either. Their single-plane BBC manifold is air gap type, but not the SBC manifold.

Also isn't EGR. With a stock carb, lack of EGR will lead to pinging fits.

The Edelbrock Air Gap is for square-base carbs only, not a q-jet.

If the buyer insists on this intake manifold swap silliness, get a Weiand Action+ EGR.

What do you mean it looks exactly like the airgap, its just hard to tell because its polished.

From the picture you show of the Air Gap, its a square bore and doesnot have the holes for the q_jet carb. Your going to have to use an adaptor in order to use the q-jet. By doing this, is this going to raise the carb up to high, and then cause a problem with the hood?

I would recommend leaving the intake alone. $200 expenditure on an intake, plus who knows how much on misc parts like brackets and gaskets and fluids and so forth, plus your time, will not increase the proce by the amount you will spend. And, since you don't indicate any improvements in the heads or cam, will not make much dfference in the way the car runs, and will only produce a drop in low-end torque and cold-weather driveability, without any corresponding improvement in top-end HP.

Leave the motor alone, finish the parts you already have torn down or otherwise in progress, and make the car look as good as you can for as little money as you can. Looks is what increases the resale price of a car, not speed.

The price of that intake would go a long way toward a better cam profile and decent springs. You know for SURE that you'll get some change from that.

Looks is what increases the resale price of a car, not speed
That all depends on where you live

but I agree, just make the car look awesome fo as few $$$ as possible, if your selling the car, chances are the person buying might not give a Rats A$$ what parts you put on it or that you spent 100+ hours fixing every little bit, there gonna look drive and give you price.

The air gap will not fit under the stock hood with the necessary spacer for the q-jet. If you're set on edelbrock, and an intake, you'll have to get the performer RPM "q-jet".

Not to question anyone, but my CCC setup listed below will not ping on 87 octane with 12 degrees of advance at idle. And my EGR is not currently functional. Maybe its my stellar 8.5:1 compression ratio? Maybe dished pistons and 76 cc chambers are good for something

The guy currently interested in my car is a guy i work with. He has seen the car. It still needs to be painted and I am doing it all myself so after 2 yaers of work and $3,000 I am through with the car. it runs great, sounds great and looks decent so if he wants to pay $2500 fine with me. I am going to have to use some of it anyways because I got my first 2 tickets Thursday morning going 62 mph in a 35mph zoneon my way to school to take a Trig test which I was late for thanks to the cop. I was able to talk my way out of a wreckless driving ticket, going to jail and losing my license for doing more than 24 mph over the limit. I was able to get defective equipment( at that moment my speedo just suddenly was broken) and driving too fast for conditions ( wet road) so all in all I am looking at maybe $250 dollars max.

I may just do the 3" exhaust and tell the guy to screw the intake. thanks for the help though.
