Roller block with pre 86 heads

My friend has a 1990 Caprice Roller 350 thats been stroked to a 383. He wants to put a set of pre 86 heaeds. I am not sure why summit specifys 65-86 and 87-95 for a reason. But what is that reason? Can they be modded to work on the roller engine?

No mods are necessary. The only difference as far as fit is concerned is with the intake: the center 2 bolt holes are at a different angle in 87-up heads.
