i have scan data and emissions data that i need help figuring out..!!! lots of info!!

ok here are some things i noticed. idling i am running really lean, which i guess maybe i am supposed to since im just idling? but when im accelerating i go from running lean to rich almost imediatly.. the BLMs jumped down pretty low for such slow acceleration. but as soon as i stoped accelerating and kept a constant speed the BLMs shot up again. even though the throttle is somewhat open and i am moving.

why is it that as soon as i start accelerating i get so much fuel added? even with very little throttle?

also it seem as if my BLM's are lower generaly then they were the last readings i got a few months ago before i sent the injectors to get cleaned. but Rich said the injectors were very clean and that i wouldn't notice a difference because they were so clean. so why all of a sudden are the BLM's lower? the O2 doesn't seem to be acting up really, except maybe at idle.. where it shows me running really lean, but yet the emissions readings said i was running really rich at idle. bad O2?

also if everything seems to be looking OK especialy during acceleration and cruise. then why does my car run\idle so crappy? i am wondering if maybe i have an ignition problem and im not igniting all the fuel which is causing it to run across the O2 and show me as running better.

i don't really know what to think of all this stuff. i need to go out and try to get some better readings. some WOT runs and some constant speed runs etc so i can try to figure this stuff out better. and i am gonna do an emission test while the computer is hooked up so i can compare what they say as far as running rich\lean etc. if anyone has any suggestions to as what to check or do or anything let me know..

also i just got to thinking and remember that i also replaced the EGR during all of the work i did when i had the injectors and plenum off. wonder if that could have anything to do with my cold running problem?

part 2 emissions data

maybe these will be of some help comparing to the other data..

600 RPMS
CO-->.23
HC-->2200
Co2-->6.5
O2-->4.6
NOx-->41

2000 RPMS
CO-->.20
HC-->251
Co2-->10.31
O2-->3.6
NOx-->53

also in the mornings or when the engine is cold the car runs VERY bad. it will stall when i first start it. even if i give it gas and rev it to about 1500 when the car first starts it will just die. and if i hold it at about 1500-2000 the rpms will go down to about 800-900 rpms and then jump back up. and then slowly go back down and will eventualy go steady after about 15-20 seconds.. also the engine likes to backfire alot when its cold. so i have to sit there and let it warm up for at least 3-4 min before i can drive (which isn't a problem in the mornings, but when i go from the school to the tech center and i can't let it warm up, then its a problem)..

the only thing that was changed really is i got the Injectors cleaned and flow matched. and ported the intake. i installed new gaskets and i seem to actualy have better vacuum now then i did before. fuel pressure is a tad low. about 41 PSI with the hose off. but i don't see how this could cause problems at lower RPMS. especialy the problems i am having in the morning.

i am putting on a new O2 sensor this weekend and i am gonna fix the FPR on monday.. but other then that what is my problem? and what can yall tell me about the Emissions readings above?

also, can anyone give me some info about what each Gas is and what systems on the car relate to that gas. and what are good levels for those gases etc. etc.. so i don't have to keep asking

Your BLMs are high across the board pretty much, which means you are lean. Goes as high as 157, which is pretty high.

Since you already suspect and are changing the O2 sensor, i'll reserve any further judgement till later. But high BLMs could be a sign of a lazy or weak O2 sensor for sure. Slightly low fuel pressure is not the problem. And for how high those BLMs are, i'd think it would need a pretty big vacuum leak to skew it that bad. I'd lean towards the O2 sensor if it hasn't been changed in the last year or so, at least for now.

Oh, you wanted to know what the gases are.

HC = hydrocarbons = raw unburned fuel, from misfires (even lean), or running way rich. borderline high can be bad cats.

CO = carbon monoxide, formed by incomplete combustion

NOx = nitrogen oxides. atmospherc nitrogen combines with oxygen under the high heat and pressure of combustion. Normally doesn't happen much, but abnormal combustion can make these levels skyrocket. (lean, too much timing, no EGR, etc)

CO2 and O2 should be obvious

And i'm not an emmisions expert, so i always forget the rules of thumb to relate which emmisions to which types of conditions. If you do some searches, both here and across the web you can find some great sources of information. For example, high HC with low CO means one thing, while high HC with high CO means another, etc.
