Replacing headlight motor?

My headlights are now staying up when I turn them off. I can manualy trun them down, and when I turn them on they go up again but not back down. so would this mean I have to replace the motor? thanks fo any info. Tim

Tim,
That sounds more like a relay problem to me.

do they make a clicking noise and run longer than they have to to go up? if so, then get the rebuild kits. actually, for the $10 and 2 hours of work, you might want to just try the rebuild anyway, it can't hurt.

and when you do it, use LOTS of liquid wrench and give it plenty of time to soak into the screws. 6 of the 8 in mine snapped off, and i spent more time drilling and tapping holes than anything else.

If they go up fine but don't want to go down it sounds more like a cut wire some where than a broked motor. Expecally if both are doing it.

mine do that sometimes... but mine is a problem with the switch going bad... i have to make sure i push the switch and hold it down until they go all the way down... if i don't they will go down as only as far as they have gone before i pull my finger off...
