I guess I should ask how long one can last too. I have 210k miles on mine now. Just put in a new clutch and resurfaced the flywheel but have no clue as far as the tranny goes.

Car: 1982 Z28
Engine: LS1
Transmission: T56
1.) Remove and disassemble transmission.
2.) Replace broken parts, friction components, seals.
3.) Reassemble and reinstall transmission.

For more details, there are these book things...many pages...diagrams...

I see we have a couple of smartasses

Radiate! I dont need to hear crap from you. I drove 3 hours to sell my engine to you and you decided you wanted to rebuild your own when we got there. Would have been nice if you decided to do that before I had my friends help me load the thing in their truck and drive 3 hours. Didnt offer to pay for the gas money I spent to get there and back. And by the way I stripped that engine down and the only thing wrong was a little bit of rust on the cam. So I would appreciate it if you just didnt even open your mouth when I ask a question. Im aware that there is a transmission board and I posted this there also.

KevinC thanx

well cry baby before you sell a motor with rust in it you should tell people that it was partially rebuilt and what you wanted for it was rediculous given the condition it was in ie rust and water damage. Would you have paid 600 dollars for a rusty engine? I think not, especially a 305 you described it as mint condition which it wasnt. It was your decision to drive 3hrs, I offered to meet you half way. Anyway whats done is done good luck with transmission rebuild.

I wasnt trying to be a smart *** in my reply. Sorry you took that way. Just thought you would get a better response from the tranny board thats all.

Im just a little touchy about that whole thing and I know Kevin is notorius for being a smartass because hes done it to me several times last year. I think its best if I just lock this before a Mod does anyway.

Ok well, good luck on the rebuild. I would suggest the dealer though they will let you copy the pages you need from their shop manuals. Thats what I did when I rebuilt my AOD in my Cougar.

I did find a lot of the after market manuals were copies of the dealers manuals. Some of the after market manuals actually omit some stuff. Safe bet is the dealer. I have 6k on my rebuilt tranny no problems yet

lol if it is you got a problem lol. Your lucky though you have the hobby shop on base to help you out. I did mine in my gaage at home. You will need some special tools or a lot of improvising. The shop on base should have what you need. Take alot of didgitalpictures as you are taking it apart. That helps more than the manuals

KevinC, Tanker hah I spent 3 years in the 3rd Armored Div in Hanau Germany. Went to the first Gulf War with them. So you were 19K I take it. Wiping wings here comes the military branch war hold on everyone.
