May get a 87 z28

I currently have a v6 91 Camaro Rs..

I was talken to this dood at the gas station who works there. He asked me if i knew anyone who needed parts for a camaro or firebird, and im like what you got? Hes like a got a full semi worken 87 Z28 for sale. Im like how much? He said $500 or maybe $400. he said it was worken, but he tried to put a new carb in it and messed something up, now its not running. He said i can take parts out or buy the whole thing. He said he will give me a front bumper for like $20 (damn good cost). What model 87 z28 has a carburator, (the name of it).

Jesse

Lg4 170hp. Sounds like he's just giving it up for cheap cause he can't work on it. Buy it.

where did you get 170hp from? I think he doesn't know much about it. I dont see any 5.7 z28, so perhaps its a Iroc?

87 Z28 - IF originally carbed would be an LG4, the best of the LG4's I might add it was rated the same as the L03 but with all the potential of a carb setup

It would be a 305 not a 350, 350 where only TPI .... this is all original equipment, he could have swapped in anything or the previous person anyways.

Check the VIN, what will tell you wha originally came on the car.

I was talking to the guy last night and he said. The car just says Camaro but he is "pretty" sure its a z28. He said he is sure it has a 350, so that makes it a 5.7l. Perhaps its a engine swap, or is it an unmarked Iroc? If i can get the vin it will tell the type and 'stock' engine size right?

It should be farely obvious if it's a Z28. It's not a 350 if its all original. Could be a swapped in 350, or somebody swapped a carb on in place of the fuel injection. Most likely it's just an LG4 whether its a z28 or not. Everyone tends to call 305's 350's when they're trying to sell them. Lying bastards.

the car is missing the passanger door panel (inside) and the center console. The body is near mint, but needs paint. He is asking $500. Is it worth it, just needs a new carb. I currently have a 91 v6 RS.

Sounds like it's worth $500 to me. You can make that back parting it out pretty easily if you can't get it running.

I'd get it with the intent of getting it running though, especially if it really has a swapped in 350, even a fairly lame 350 gives you a great base to work with. I would be expecting it to turn out to be a 305 though. Hopefully it has some things like a posi rear, etc if it's a real Z28.

I'm betting it's not a Z28 too though, didn't they start making the just plain Camaro with the Z28s ground effects, but with a little low rise spoiler around 87? Kinda the precursor to the RS? Maybe that was 88... (edit, that's 88 apparently. Should be easy to tell if it's a Z28 then assuming they didn't add on the ground effects/wheels etc...)

I looked at the car in great detail today. The interior...well its almost not apparent. Needs new dash, new center console, new door panel, new interior roofing, new carpet almost new everything. The engine has to be a 305 cause its stock. The rims are the stock ugly rims. The back said z28, the decal for the 5.7 or whatever is gone. I think ill just keep the v6 and do some minor stuff to it. Soon ill get a newer car
