what octane to use

 

because I mean there are texts on the car that say, OMG, only use unleaded gasoline, what the hell, I can use 92 octane in the car and not affect all my emissions and carb and all that good stuff?

 

All gasoline available today is unleaded, that is except limited use racing fuels.

 

Use the cheapest stuff that doesn't ping. In most locales, the actual fuel itself is absolutely identical the same at all the pumps, regardless of brand; no point in paying extra for something you can get for less. And there's really no point in falling for the oil company sucker advertising, designed to get you to buy the higher-priced stuff, which actually has a lower heat content (fuel value) than regular.
