I got mine off a 92 S-10 for $40 from the local boneyard, like ede said, you must swap pitman arm. On my application, I also had to do some "massaging" to the front sway bar mount-it would'nt allow the box to set against the "frame"

Not just from S10
The manual boxes from Chevy Monza'a & vega's will also work.
This one in the pic is from a Monza.

The Monza box will work but they're getting hard to find. Those boxes are getting very old.
As mentioned above, any year S-10 will work. The S-10 will have a 4 cylinder engine. All the V6's have power steering. I got mine from an 87 and only paid $15. I also use the f-body pitman arm but I don't have a front sway bar to interfere with the box.
All you're going to need to pull it is a few tools. Depending what year it is, the bolts could be standard or metric. I think 18mm is needed for the mounting bolts. 10mm to unbolt the steering shaft. Whatever is required to take off the tie rod end.
Buy the box with the S-10 pitman arm and change it at home with your f-body arm. You'll need a special puller to take it off. It can be rented if you don't have one.

The high today was -25c. It's going down tonight to -28 or -30c.
And only 56 days until the track opens. Last year or the year before, there was a foot of snow on my car a week before the first race.
As for the steering boxes, GM boxes like that all have the same mounting pattern. If you can find a Monza or S-10 manual box, they all bolt on in the same place. Converting to something like a Pinto manual rack is a little more difficult but not impossible.

How does the steering feel with the manual box?
I too am planning on doing this swap, that way the only accessory on my belt will be the Alternator.

I did have some 2.25" spacers, but I sold those a month or so ago to a guy in California. If I can figure out a way to get rid of the front spacers, I'll sell those too.

I can't comment on how it's like to drive on the street. Wide tires will cause a lot of extra friction at slow speed turns. I have skinny front tires. Driving around the pits isn't great but then I also have a smaller aftermarket steering wheel with a transbrake button and coiled cord attached to it. Moving around is difficult when I have to do hand over hand steering to pull into my stall.
Once I'm moving through the staging lanes, down the track and back up the return road, I don't even notice that it's manual steering.
If you look at an old car or truck with manual steering, they had large steering wheels to compensate for the extra torque required to turn the wheel.
