Hard starting when car tilted to left on a hill

I have a strange problem that I cannot solve. Twice, I was parked on a hill with the car tilted to the left(drivers side lower). I would have the car parked there for maybe 15 to 30 minutes. When I come back to start, the car cranks but won't start. Twice I got the car to start by either pushing the car to level ground or facing downhill. Can anyone help? I do not even know where to begin looking. Thanks Mike

Start by looking at the amount of gas in the tank. If the car is tilted severely and there is just 1/2-1/4 of a tank then the fuel pickup is probably not sitting in fuel.

OK

Thanks Morley for the reply. I appreciate it. I think you may be on to something. At the time the car wouldn't start, the gauge was reading about 1/2 tank. But gauges are usually not that accurate. I'll try to keep the tank as full as possible , especially when I know I will park on hills.

Thanks, Mike
