AC Delcos. Simple as that. Either the PF-25 or the PF-454S

do a search, somebody posted a link to a site that like took apart a whole bunch of oil filters and commented about them, it was pretty useful. i just changed my oil last week, and i used a fram tough guard i forget what number, i got it at walmart. the site recommended the tough gaurds, but it said the regular frams had like cardboard on the inside, and they leak a lot or something. you should check it out.

www.minimopar.net, I'm pretty sure this is the right link.

Definately Napa Gold. Consumer Reports did some tests years ago and Napa Gold out shone the competition in flow rates and cleaning rates. I haven't used anything else since. There may be better ones out there these days, but I haven't looked back since going to the gold.

System 1 !!! Get thru Summit or Jegs. Yes, initially expensive, but with the Delcos (my 2nd best choice), not buying 9-10 of them will pay for the System 1. And you never throw it away!! Never contribute to more (hazmat) trash at the dump or landfill, and works better than most other paper-type filters.

My $0.02, hth

It's easy to conclude that the worst thing out there is Fram, from design to quality control. Advertising will beat quality for awhile, but the chickens are starting to come home to roost.

AMSOIL filters are manufactured by Hastings to AMSOIL specs. Corner a Hastings factory rep, he'll admit the AMSOIL filters are better than those with the Hastings name on them (and Hastings has very good products). The all have anti-drainback valves, the thickest/strongest case out there, and a filtering media that filters 10 micron absolute (which typically is 5 microns nominal) while maintaining a low delta-P.

The filter eval site is www.minimopar.net/oilfilterstudy.html . I've seen that site for a couple of years, and it has always said about the AMSOIL SDF-15: "This filter has been acquired, disassembled, and is awaiting measurements."

previous talk about amsoil filters:
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...baldwin+amsoil
My Baldwin contact tells me the Amsoil filters(sdf) are the baldwin severe service filters.
Here are the two different filters:
http://www.pecuniary.com/synthetics/fullflowfltr.html
http://www.syntheticlubes.com/fleetof.html
http://www.baldwinfilter.com/products/lube.html
I usually use the baldwin filters, if I can find them--the local wal-mart carries them here.
If you want a pretty good, but cheap filter. The walmart 'supertech' filter is made by champ labs for less than 2 bucks. The funny part is the fram filters right next to them cost more and are very poor quality.
