MY blinkers BLINK SLOWLY but I don't have a relay for them
I have a 91 Z28 and, according to my chiltons manual and various other informational literature- I dont have a relay for my blinkers
In my convinience(sp?) center, i have the buzzer, a round silver relay and a square relay- i was told the the round one was the hazard one and the square one was something else- can someone clarify this for me? my blinkers act retarded and it's embarrasing to have them on at night since they're so slow. someone help before i admit my Z into the mental hospital!!

Most of the time when that happens to me I've found a burned out bulb or even a bulb just about to go. Check 'em.

The flasher unit in the convenience center is the one for the turn signals. The one in the fuse box is the hazards. Change out whichever one you don't like, put in the kind that's for towing.
Make sure all the bulbs are working.... if one or more is out, the blinkers will blink very slowly, or not at all (come on and stay on).
And make sure you change the blinker fluid, and recycle the old stuff.

Easy way to find it...turn your key up to the 'run' position, activate the turn signal switch (doesn't matter which direction), and listen around for the clicking. In all my thirdgens, they have been located near the convenience center on their own plug; sometimes still clipped to the metal frame around it.

PS: GM's red blinker fluid is much better than the generic blue stuff.

Oh, wait....that's because I don't peruse the 'ric<x>er's aisles at the local parts stores....
Damn, I remember a couple years ago telling someone to go to the parts counter and ask for some blinker fluid....and they actually went and did just that
I would liked to have been a fly on the wall that day...

I personaly use the KaleCO Synthetic blinker fluid...
I copied this directly from the website:
Are you blinkers sluggish? Do they make an annoying ticking noise? Do they not flash fast enough? Here's your solution. Little do people know, blinker fluid should be changed every 150,000 blinks! KaleCo high quality synthetic blinker fluid meets the highest D.O.T. standards! KaleCo blinker fluid provides you with thousands of hours of reliable blinking without the wear and tear on the flash-synchro's that the other blinker fluids cause! KaleCo blinker fluid will not lose its viscosity, even in the most extreme situations! Why buy that old dino-blinker fluid, when you can get our unique patented synthetic formula? Satisfaction guaranteed!! For use in any car.
BTW: It's $5.99 a bottle.

Take the relay and soak it in cider ...no really here...is your alternator charging correctly? A low charge will also cause what you are describing

no luck ..nothing but black..guess ive worn it out
Anyway the Chiltons manual has a pretty good pic on page 6-37...buy the book , it comes in pretty handy sometimes...it states...
" The turn signal flasher is located inside the convenience center. In order to gain access to the turn signal flasher, it may be necessary to first remove the under dash padding"
It is with the horn relay seatbelt-ignition key headlight buzzer. Choke relay,Hazard flasher, all on a board together the signal flasher is the round object at the front and left side of the board..hazard flasher front right...
Hope this helps some....
Ps it is not on the fuse block!

voltmeter is reading normal, everything works fine except when my left or right blinker is on- if i turn the hazards on, they blink nice and quick, like normal- but when i have either blinker on... SLOOOOOOWW..
you could try replacing the flasher.
i know, it's tough to come up with the whole 2 dollars...
no but seriously, i was having a similar problem - blinkers went really slow, hazards were fine. changed the flasher, problem fixed.
also, when my alternator died, while it was still kind of working, the blinkers were going disgustingly slow.

no but seriously, take it to a car parts store and show somebody there. it's hard to give advice about stuff like this over the internet because we can't see what you see
it was under the steering column right next to the fuses - pain in the *** to get too. it's the cylinder shaped shiny metal thing.

that's a link for gm trucks, but it's the same idea...

This is what my Helms manual says for a 92 bird:
"The turn signal flasher is clipped to the fuse block mounting bracket behind the instrument panel to the left of the steering column."
Shouldn't be much different on your car.

Really? I like the green synthetic stuff myself. Gives the blinkers more HP, and I can go twice as many miles without having to change it.
