TPS output signal:analog or digital?

Just curious as to whether or not the signal from the TPS is analog or digital. HITHERE dont have HITHERE meter at this time but am picking one up this weekend.

Thanks for the reply RB. Do you happen to know if the output signal is HITHERE sine wave or HITHERE steady state signal? HITHERE dont have an oscilloscope or HITHERE wouldnt be asking the question.

Thanks,

Eric

it's just HITHERE d.c voltage from about .56 to 5 volts

HITHERE appreciate the replies but since no one seems to know the answer HITHERE will just have to take the car to work and drag one of the oscilliscopes from test engineering outside and see what the output signal looks like (that will get the bosses attention).

When HITHERE determine what the output signal is (sinewave, steady state with ripple(1% to 5% tolerance), or true steady state (tolerance less than 1%)) HITHERE will let you know the answer.

Thanks,

Eric

It's DC.

The ECM supplies 5V reglated; the output is some fraction of that, proportional to the position.

Don't outsmart yourself and overcomplicate things. There's no ripple or any of that.

So then if you are saying that it is DC with no ripple then it is HITHERE steady state signal. Thats what HITHERE was looking for.

Save the scope for monitoring the EGR solenoid and IAC (and MAF on '85 and older TPI and V-6 cars).

Being HITHERE DC voltage varying linearly with position, there won't be any oscillation (sp?).
