Pulling motor to switch Tranny.

How much of the accsesories etc do HITHERE need to take off to get the motor and tranny out. Im going to start working on it tommorow. What fluids should HITHERE drain etc. Im replacing my TH350 with one from HITHERE junkyard.

I have never heard of anyone pulling the whole engine to take out the trans, It is an easy job! Sometimes I like to take out the trans to get engines back in easier though!
Good luck!

If you're removing the transmission, the driveshaft has to come out. The rear trans mount/crossmember has to come out, the transmission linkage, oil cooler lines, and wiring has to be removed, and the torque converter/flexplate bolts need to be removed - regardless of which method you use.

Once all that is disconnected, you should be able to tilt the engine back and down slightly at the rear, then remove all the transmission-to-engine bolts. The transmission should then slide back and out. Reverse order for assembly.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

once youve done it a couple times its simple as crap, just have lots of extensions and a swivel ready to make easy work of the bellhousing bolts.

my friend helped me on my last pull (driveway/jackstand style), he was doing the lines and within like a minute i had the bellhousing bolts out and he just looks at me like how th **** did you get those out? hes used to taking them out through the hood on his truck, impossible on these

hardest one i had to get to was the middle left bolt. the floor pan on the left side is in the way and had to let the engine tilt down before i could reach it...other then that they are cake. Just dont lose any bolts or anything and you'll be fine.

If you'd like to avoid CCS (crushed cranium syndrome), buy, borrow, rent or steal a tranny jack.

Makes the job SOOOOooooo much easier.

or at least a nice metal plate that will fit on the head a floor jack...be sure and put the jack(wichever kind) under the tranny to relieve pressure before you start removing bolts...get some good jack stands...you have to have the car high enough to at least clear the tranny.

lets not forget the torque arm...I find it easier to remove once the crossmember is released and the tranny is lowered a bit... watch your fingers when you take the last bolt out..there is some spring to it!
