Oil consumption on new motor

Still have this problem on my new crate motor from All Chevy
Engines with World SR Torquer heads. Greatly reduced amount and do not see blue smoke in exhaust after blocking breather
on pass side valve cover and letting PCV pull a good vacuum.
Checked screw in rocker arm studs and they do not extend into
intake runners (thought this was the problem). Did however
notice the valve seals were all riding up high on each valve stem with most of them touching the spring retainer. Though the seals
were supposed to be fitted down over the valve guide? Could
this be the cause of the oil consumption problem ?

how many miles are on the new motor? Its extremely common for new motors to burn oil (sometimes enough to worry ya) until the rings and everything seat properly.

What kind of seals? If they're umbrella seals, then that's what they're supposed to do.... they end up pushed as high up the stem as the guide will push them at full opening, ans then they just kind of hang there and be little umbrellas.

I'd suspect a bad intake manifold gasket.

Hard to see the seals through the spring and damper
but I see some metal on them which makes me think
they are supposed to be clamped on the guide. I will
give World Products a call to confirm.
With respect to the intake gasket, it is the first thing
I changed.

If they are the kind with the metal clamp, then they are supposed to stay stuck to the guide. Those heads come from world with the nitrile positive seals, so I would assume that's what they are. I don't know offhand what the outer diameter of the guide is, or exactly which seals it is, though.

If I measured Correctly (from ChevyKen's World S/R 305 heads) the guide O.D. is 0.531". The seals are banded, positive (Teflon or nitrile rubber), and should not be floating up to the retainers. I think you've found your oil consumption problem...

its normal for most engines to smoke for up to 1k, i just had my 355 on the dyno, ram great but still smoked with just over 1k, after the dyno pulls i drove around the block, nailed the gas and no more smoke. dont worry, its all in the way you treat the engine whly its under 1k. i didnt baybe it, i kicked its *** and now its on of the sweetest engines ive ever built, im now building my 6th engine, and soone to be rebuilding a roller 305 for my 87 bird.

PS
im only 17,(2days ago)

Talked to World and they said the seals are
nitril and should be clamped on the guide.
They indicated this could cause the oil
problem.
