Does this sound like a dead battery?

If I let my car sit for a day or 2 the volts are like at 10 when it gets started then it will go up to 14 after a couple of seconds of the engine running? also this battery was tested and they said it was fine. But in between that time I couldn't get my car started so i must have charged up the battery with a battery charger and then drained it trying to start it about a dozen times. Will this affect battery life?

If you have a voltage meter (like a multimeter) then use it to test the battery after it's sat for 1-2 days. If you don't have one, go buy one. They can be had for less then $20 at Radio Shack, Lowe's or Menards.

Even then, it's hard to say if it's the battery, or if something isn't draining the battery while the car sits.

The easy way (besides making sure EVERYTHING electrical is off) is to disconnect the battery, let it sit the 1-2 days, then test it. That'll tell you if it's the battery or something draining it.
