Any tips on how to get in #8??

This is driving me nuts, for that past hour and a half I have ben trying to get a plug into the #8 hole from the top.

Anyone know of any good tricks or tips to get this done? Im at my wits end and almost have half a mid to call up one of those mobile mechanics and have them install just the one spark plug.

I cant get a jack becuse my driveway is inclined, and I have headers so its even more complicated.

Thanks

Ill be crakin at that #8 in the meantime

You might have to try going in from the bottom.

Since you have a driveway with an incline, the road below it must be level, right?

Put the car so the front tires are on the driveway, and the rear tires are on the road (that's if traffic isnt' a problem) and crawl under the car behind the front wheels.

That's the easiest place to get at the #8 cylinder anyway.

I can replace mine from the top but I don't have big arms. I fit my right arm below the headers at the #2 spark plug and over to the #8 plug. My elbow ends up around the #2 plug.

Not to be redundant... but yes, do it from below. The first time I tried changing plugs on this car, it took over an hour because I was so accustomed to doing everything from the top. After having to run a few leak-down and compression tests, you learn to find better ways.

Personally I find it easiest to do them all from below--mabye with the exception of #1 and #3.

TIP: In order to completely remove loosened plugs and to hand-tighten plugs as you put them back in: Take a short length (i.e. ~1.5") of vacuum hose and fit it snugly on the spark-plug terminal. Then, you can twist the plug from the hose and work from any angle. Makes life a little easier...

You simply cut some 2x6 lumber and stack it in increments in front of the ramps until its high enough to safely hit the ramp. Lowered doesn't mean you need a lift.
