cam question

my 91 lb9 came with a hydrualic roller cam with hydrualic flat tappet lifters correct...

a 94 lt1 motor cam with the same cam but with hydrualic roller lifters right?...

im wondering if i can use a "regualar'' hydraulic cam in a lt1 motor..i dont have 300 for a cam and another 250 for lifters

i was looking at comps cam kit for $189 with cam and lifters

If your car is a 91 then it has a hydraulic roller cam, and hydraulic roller lifters as well.

Exactly! unless somone changed it to a flat tappet.

I am not an lt1 guru by any means but I dont think you can put in a regular flat tappet old style cam into a newer lt1, without modification anyway! I am almost sure I read that the newer lt1 cams have quite a bit longer dowel in front that goes through the timing chain and actually drives something. (Water pump)?
Anyway this will bring your post to the top again and possibly someone else can clear this up.
Good luck!

Opti-spark Distributer....the dowel was changed after 94 and is quite a bit longer...but can be changed

Usually you don't have to replace roller lifters when you put in a new cam, like you do flat tappet ones. So that's a cost you shouldn't need to be concerend about.

Don't go out of your way to invent ways to downgrade your motor. That's kind of stupid.... spend whatever it takes to get this nice motor, then immediately start chippining away at the things that are good about it.
