Racing Fuel ?
I have an 88 Iroc, you can read in my sig about it, but it is a new engine(block whole 9 yards) new trans and just had the crank bearings redone. my question is what woudl 110 octane unleaded fuel do to the car, i dont plan on running it constantly with it in there, just for some drag racing, but will it hurt the engine or car in anyway or what may happen in the long run, will i need to only use 110 octane fuel after that, or anything like that. i havent done it yet, but i have this guy with a stang that is looking to race this next weekend and i want to show some raw chevy power, open a can of whoop azz. but any sorta info is cool, or if i need to do something dif with the engine or intake or anything like that, such as remove the cat or something, but thats what i need to know before i do something stupid that i go on to regret.

You can use it with no harm,altough it will do nothing to improve your performance,just a premium fuel will be enough!!

What is your compression? I'm guessing it's not high enough to require using 110 octane. I have heard that using that high of an octane will hinder performance if you don't have a compatible compression ratio.

i dont know, actually i was going to check that out tomorrow, what should be the lowest compression ratio i should have if i go to use racing fuel? woudl it be like 8:1 as the lowest? i hve some small things to do with the car tomorrow like fix the speedo and odometer, needs a new sensor, so i was going to find out my ratio, but what wousl be the cut off?
How would it work for a normal daly fuel in a garage car? I live right next to a tiny airport (if you can call it that) and they have aircraft fuel there that I could get just as easly as going to chevron or something. So what kind of ling trem damage could it do if any???
race fuel/av gas is leaded, if you have a cat you'd screw it up. if you don't have compression to require race fuek you'll most likely hurt preformance since the higher the octane rating the harder it is to light.

its not the converter that is damaged.. its the o2 sensor
it gets coated with deposits and will become inoperative. Find a local gas man for the circle track or drag strip in your area. He probably sells 100 octane unleaded.. Mix it about 30-40 percent with 92pump and it will be more than sufficent for something nearing 200psi cranking compression.
There is also the issue that av-fuel is not taxed. They can get in a lot of trouble if they sell it to you and most will not even think about it for that reason.

You will not get one single HP more out of 110 octane fuel than you will out of 87, if the engine doesn't have sufficiently high compression to need it. If your engine does not require it to avoid spark knock and/or detonation, then it will do you no good at all.
