Cams Cams Cams which one?
So many questions about cams on here it's dizzying. After reading about so many cams I've decided I need to add to the foray.
Here's what I have or am getting:
87+ roller block 350 bored 40 over
88 Formula auto TPI
debating on using 305 heads, ported, and rebuilt with 1.94 valves
flat top pistons (shooting for 10 - 11 compression)
headers are a must but haven't decided on which
Did I leave any pertinent info out?
Which cam should I use? I'm looking for an improvement over stock. Doesn't need to be wild. If you guys mention a wild cam I'll also need to know what other work needs to be done to get the heads to work.
Oh yeah, stock intake setup. I'll be gasket matching and polishing.

I have the XR269HR from comp cams. at .050 it is 218 deg on the intake and 224 on exhaust. about .500 inch lift both sides. I am using 305 heads with longer than stock valves and springs with an install height of 1.800 inches. That cam is made for TPI but I am actually running a carb. It idles pretty smoothly and I think I could have stepped up one more level without hurting idle quality.
I would recommend you go with comp cams and get the springs they recommend for the cam you get. Take the springs with the specs to the shop doing your heads so they can do any work to the pockets and get the installed height right with the valves your using. Let them know the lift specs on the cam also.
