What cam is ideal for a Mini-Ram 383?
What cam is ideal for a Mini-Ram 383?
This engine is going to have it all, and only the best. 10.5:1 compression, 4 bolt mains, NOS, super high flow heads (havent decided on a brand yet) Richmond 6 speed, 3.70 gears, what cam will work well with this? Emmissions are not a concern.

i'd go with AFR(air flow research) gm hi-tech magazine just recently had a special on tpi's and a little chart on cam selection vs. intake design if your using a super ram dont go over 228 @.050 beliefve me i'm living the night mare of tunig out the bugs in my GTA (355tpi/afr heads, slp runners/ 10.7:1/ etc.,etc.)

Dan, have you budgeted any money for your engine, or even purchased any parts yet?
Maybe you might want to consider just buying the whole shebang from TPIS as a crate engine. TPIS/Cottrel Engines can and does build minirammed 383's that expend 450+ horsepower. They sell you the whole motor, with Miniram on top, and a dyno tuned EFI computer & harness for something like $8K.
Just bolt it into your motor mounts, hook up your throttle cable & fuel lines, and go.

Thanks, I will keep that crate engine in mind. I want the highest flow heads that there are, and money is no problem, since this project is going to take a while, I am starting now on the drivetrain and suspension. My next mod is going to be the 3.70 gears.

I would skip that crate motor, someone local had one and it was less than stellar performance.
Brodix Track 1 heads are nice
cam is hard to decide if heads are not decided
and BTW 4.10s would be better for your combo more than likely, unless you are on the gun or Vortech
