Sometimes my car dies at idle. Help.

Sometimes when I am at idle at a light, the car will stall. Currently, in drive, i idle at 500. Would the reason for the problem be that this idle is too low? I heard that it should be 600-650 in drive. Is the problem that I am idleing too low? I know how to set it higher, I just need to know if this would solve my stalling problem. Thank you.

My 85 IROC wants to do the same thing. It was fine until I tried using some fuel injection cleaner. I think it crudded-up one of my injectors instead of cleaning them out. Your case may be different, however.

Try this. Turn on your a/c and see if the car idles up, if not get check your idle air control valve.

Have you tried checking for codes? My '85 did the same thing once. It turned out to be the MAF sensor. The CE light never came on but when I checked the codes that is what came up. Replaced the MAF, it's been running like a champ ever since.
