Will a 350 TPI Setup Fit a 400ci Engine

First off, will the TPI manifold bolt up to a 400ci. It yes what would I have to change to make the 400 run good. A custom chip? Bigger injectors? Higher flowing runners, manifold, and throttle body? Massive porting?

Forget the stock TPI and just invest in a SuperRam not a MiniRam and 58mm Throttle Body new cam, etc, etc.....

Hey SHAWN, it will work like you suspected, first thing to change over is an AFTER-MARKET TPI base manifold. That way, if your TPI setup came off of an 87-92 engine, you won't have to change the 4 inner intake bolt angle from 73 degree to 90 degree. Secondly, if you want it to perfrom the way it should, install some ASM or ACCELL runners with some 24# injectors and an AFPR. You will also need that custom chip and an Exhaust to allow adequate scavenging. With these components, it will make you happy but, you will upgrade again later to make it even better. Lastly, choose a cam that will work and has worked with TPI like the LPE 219/219 cam or one of SLP's EFI cams. HTH's

I already have a set of SLP high flow runners, an BBK 58mm TB, and a Flowmaster Cat-back. I was thinking of going with a Edelbrock high flow runner and having the whole intake system ported to the max. I am also going to look for a set of headers that will fit the 400 and bolt up to my Cat-back system, hopefully I can find a set that won't have a clearance problem. Thanks for the help.

Hey Shawn, the headers for the F-body 305-350 will physically bolt on and work on the 400 WITHOUT a problem, ALL SBC F-body emission headers will work on any 262-400 engines but, for the 400, you will want the 1-3/4" setup to help those cubes breath. Though you could install the 1-5/8" headers, the 1-3/4" is the most feasible. BTW, I have 1-3/4" x 3" SCHOENFELD long-tube headers with 3" true-daul exhaust on my 355 and they work great. Since I will be upgrading to a 383 soon, I will not have to worry about a choked exhaust system with that setup. HTH's
