New to boar, have an LT1 Q!!
Hello, ive been browsing for a little while and I have a question for you. I just purchased a 96 LT1 out of a caprice. It has 35,000 miles on it and I got it for $800. Im going to drop it in the back of my 86 Fiero GT. And I was wandering what the specs are for the motor? redline, hp, tq that sort of thing. And what would be the best way to up the power a few ponies, because I believe its rated at about 260. Thank you all. I should also mention, I just turned 19, and all my money is going into this, so I really cant spend outrageous amounts of money on it. I have to ship the car back home to Australia early next yr also. Thanks alot. Pat.

Welcome to the board, but you may be asking advice from the wrong people. This is a thirdgen site, and only fourthgen f-bodies came with LT1s. You may want to post something like this on camaroz28.com's LT1 board, although they may not know much givin the space constraints of a Fiero engine bay. The best advice I can give is mod it like any other V8, matched heads and cams are the name of the game.

I've got the same motor and I am putting it into my 86 Trans Am.
260hp and 345+ torque. Redline is 6K, has Iron heads.
This page has the LT1 breakdown for the different models,

I put a cam, Vette heads, and some other small things on my LT1,

Hey thanks for the welcome. Im sorry, I dont know all that much about TA's and Camaros, I do know that back in Australia, my friend Tony's dad had a TA, and it was the baddest car I had ever seen. I always liked them. But I got a Fiero??
Anyway, It comes with all the sensors, and a wireing harness, but not an ECM. I was just glad to get all the fuel injection, heads, block and you know, the basics for $800. The 35,000miles was the seller. Would anyone happen to know if alluminum heads would increase the power? Ive been told the iron heads flow better, but being that the engone is going to be in the back, I want to try and save as much weight as possible. And the 50 odd lbs might make a big difference, the cars strong point is its handling. And its a VERY strong point
But thanks for al your help, and kind words. Ill let you all know how it goes. Cheers, Pat.

The heads are a trade off, weight for flow.
You can pick up a set of stock Aluminum heads for $200-300 all day long if you choose to change.
Also, the Iron heads have pressed in rocker studs and 1.25" springs.
I'd recommend a heads and cam change, Electric water pump (if it will fit, gives you about 8hp at the wheels), Double roller timing chain (only if you can run the electric water pump, this gives nice throttle response.)
