Oil Pans

I am going to build a new motor for my 82 Z-28 this summer and want to replace my currently damaged oil pan. What oil pans do you guys run, which oil pans will fit? I am thinking of building a 383, will i have any interference problems with the pan?

Thanks ME Leigh

I'm putting a Moroso pan thats made for our cars on my new 406. Part#MOR-20180. It is a 6 quart plus the filter pan and has the trap doors in it.

My 355 is a 98 vortec truck block, with the stock truck oil pan. It fits fine, infact, I didn't even think about fit until I realized it held an extra quart of oil, and at that time I had the engine in it ready to fire!

So truck pans actually do fit, thats contrary to everything i have heard. How about the summit pan for like $20-25, think that will fit?

I used one from a 92 Caprice. The only diff from a Fbody pan is the hole for the low oil level sensor, which I plugged. The year of the block makes a difference on which oil pan you get. 80 & earlier take one type, 81-85 has the dipstick on the pass side & 86 & up has the one piece rear main. Most any standard pan will fit on the 3rd Gen chassis.
