I am currently in the middle of trying to solve one of the greatest mysteries of all time. Why my gage fuse keeps blowing? Now I searched for three days and read everything I could, I finally got it down to c207. When I disconnect this, my fuse doesn't blow. So I figured I'd disconnect the AIR, EGR(from the valve and solenoid), EVAP, and MAF Burnoff Relay. But with all of these disconnected, I plugged c207 back, turned the car on, and sure enough, blew another fuse. I'm at a loss here, and I know that you (Vader) helped a few other get through their problem. So maybe you can come up with something that I haven't thought of yet. I have an 86 Z28, 355 TPI.

Sorry, I guess I should have mentioned that. I also did the grounds, the wires on the starter, and the VSS. I've been chasing wires for a few days now, making sure connections are good and tight, and also making sure the wires aren't burnt up, chewed on, or melted to anything. But I'm obviously missing something, I just can't figure out what.

Vader, I checked the resistance on the Torque Converter Lockup at c207 and it was 4.4 ohm, so I unplugged the TCC and sure enough, I have gauges. So does this mean that the wiring inbetween is bad, or that the solenoid is bad?

something else I just noticed, is that when the TCC in unplugged and I check the resistance at C207, nothing changes on the voltmeter. Do you think that would mean that it's not the wires and the solenoid is somehow grounding itself out? Is there a way to test the solenoid?

Ok, well, I may have or have not found the problem. I had my tranny rebuilt about a month ago and so I called my tranny guy and told him what my problem is and he said it may be caused by a wire being pinched on the valve body or rubbing on the filter, so i'm taking it in Monday to get it looked at. Thanks for your help, I love this site.

Giff,
Sorry for the slow reply, but things in the Empire have been a little busy. Besides, it seems like you may have found the problem. Since the pan has to be removed to check the wiring and electric valve, you might try to coax the transmission builder into installing a drain plug for you, as compensation for your frustration.

Update for all of those that may be curious. Just got my car back from the tranny shop, and wouldn't you know it. There's a wire inside the transmission to the TCC Solenoid that had worked itself loose from the bracket and started rubbing against the Tranny filter, eventually frayed and cut it completely apart and that was shorting out my gauge fuse. Thank *** it's fixed. I hate electrical problems.
