383 questions
I was considering buying a 383 stroker kit. My question is how much horsepower will a Scat 9000 series nodular crank handle? I know that forged is better but this won't be handling amything over 550hp, probably not even that much. Also, what kinds of heads would work good on a 383 that aren't extremely expensive?
For those looking for forged cranks and rods, Flatlander Racing sells Scat cranks and rods fairly cheap. www.flatlanderracing.com
Thanks for the advice!!

you can find a lot better parts than scat, even if you don't make a lot of power. more to what kind of power, or abuse, a part can handle than the part it's self, machine work also comes into play as does how straight, flat, round ,etc. the parts are.

The Scat cranks are not that bad.The owner of shop that built my short block is a die hard Callies man at first he didnt even want to build my engine because I was going to use a Scat crank and rods but he did. After he looked looked at and balanced every thing he said that the parts were not bad and everything balanced easily. Also there good to 600HP and 6500RPM
