It sounds like the engine has overheated for one reason or another, causing the internals of the engine to expand, temporarily siezing them. Have you tried to crank the engine after allowing the engine to cool for a few hours?
That's just my first impression of the situation, don't get worried just yet.

I can't be specific because I don't have experience in the car, but:
Check your oil, what color is it? is it milky? or does it look like good
oil?
check your coolant, again, does it look like it has oil in it?
give the car time to cool off, if it ran really hot (at least on new
cars today) the ECU has a cutoff to where you can't start
it till it cools down.
I'm not trying to incuiate anything, there's no reason to panic,
there is a million and one reasons why your car has faultered
this way, just running through the most common possabilities.
do the simple checks first..
if you lost all power, you could have blown a head gasket, which
can mix oil and coolant and cause the car to overheat (oil
doesn't cool like antifreeze does) and eventually hydrolock..
good luck... just my $0.02 someone tell me if i'm right or wrong
with this stuff..

If you aren't getting any power at all then maybe you burned up some fusible links somewhere, maybe you fried some fuses somewhere, or maybe your alternator is dead and you ran you battery completely dead.
As said it could be many many things, can you give us any more details than you have??

try and get someone to jump ur car with theres. now if it starts or atleast u get power back so the lights and anything else comes on. then change the alternator and then check again. also if its not that stuff pull a spark plug out and notice if any fluids or anything drain out. thats all i can think of. but do what BTS88IROC said and just check ur alternator and battery. u proably didnt notice and the alternator went and then the battery had all its juice sucked out and well died.

Did it just go kaput without acting funny at all or was it acting funy before it died?
It could be a million things we need more info.
BTW check for unplugged wires.

First thing you should do is check the battery. It's possible that your battery went dead and after it died the alternator had to work too hard to keep power to the car causing it to die. That would be the first thing I'd check. Then hit the fusable links and work from there. like they said, it could be any thing.
Hope that helps.

Sounds like the belt came off, and it overheated from the water pump not turning, and the battery went dead from the alternator not turning.
Have you checked for the existence of a belt yet?
If it's missing, get a new one, it'll be part # 7445 or 15445 depending on who made it; jump the car off; fill it back up with water, and it will probably be fine.

Have you disconnected anything lately? Did you make sure the connections at the starter are ok? If the wires came loose it will kill everything.
Check the battery connections
Have the battery tested.
Possibly you might have to replace a battery wire or maybe even the battery.
Start simple...I doubt its a blow head gasket or anything major. Sounds like a bad connection somewhere to me.
