I locked up my rearend please i need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok what do I do i dont know what gears it have its a 87 350 formula the vin is IG2FS2184HL226I90 i tryed looking it up but it wont show what gears it has its posi and all disc breaks and i need to change it today anyone with help of anykind !!!!!!!

Did it lock up? My pin in the spider came out about two years ago and did a lot of damage. When it went out, it sounded like I had thrown a cap off a retread. I had the shop fix it short term and they told me if it came loose again, it could fall out and lock up the rear end. I wound up replacing it about two months later because it started making noise again.

Oh, I forgot to tell you what gear ratio. Mine has a 2.72 or something along that line.

Have you opened up the case to see what happend or what? IF you look in there and there are peices of spder gear sitting at the bottom of your case then I'd say it's a safe bet you need to replace it. IF you are not sure take it to a shop. No flame, but If you don't what you are doing .003" will royaly screw up your rearend. You can do it just take your time and double check all your clearances and alignment. White lithium grease works well to check the seat of the pinion to the ring gear. Just spray it on the ring gear and rotate the pinion and see where the grease gets wiped away. ONce you are in ther eyou will see what I mean.

ok i need to know what gears are in my car i have no idea how to tell what they are if someone could help .... the gears are locked up for sure i had it towed to my house there is even black stuff comeing out of the rearend i'd think it'd be easyer putting in a new rearend then fixing the gears thanks
Look at the front top of the passenger side axle tube. It has the codes for the gear numbers on it.
But if you are going to replace the rear, then why bother? Who cares what gears are in there, just get a rear with the gears you want...but at least get a posi.

ok i got the damn thing out it wasnt that hard i have looked everwhere for a posi for my 3rd gen and no luck what other pois tracks will work i need help if everything goes to crap no posi for me ...... cuz i have to fix it by tomorrow nigth
