Fuel pump went out.

Yup jus got home right now from bout Morgan Hill, CA. Car took a dump on me So i turn the ignition and i hear no fuel pump noise. I hope thats the problem. Tomorrow i think imma drop the gas tank and see whats up. And i noticed a loss of power yesterday when i floored it. It jus didnt feel like the normal car that it once was. Loss of power. This sucks ***. Another 62 bucks out of my pocket for towing Im freakin tired and off to bed.

Any good 'In the tank' fuel pumps u guys recommend?

thanks, Nate

be sure to change the fuel filter as well. you'd be surprised what you'd find in the fuel system after a pump dies.

Yes, get a Walbro in-tank pump. You won't regret it.

The fuel "sender" is usually in reference to the whole unit or, more specifically, the fuel level sender which -could- go out - BUT that, my friend, is very rare. If your fuel gauge doesn't erratically bounce around as if on steriods, its all good. Just replace the pump and since you have the tank out, replace IT with a 1LE tank.

Have fun... I sure did. :lala:

I got the same pump but too bad I haven't had a chance to actually use it!

Just wondering if these fuel pumps have an advantage over stock pumps. If they do whats the average cost?

Hey Borla,

I know its Sunday evening but when my fuel pump went out I ordered through Thunder Racing. I ordered on Monday afternoon and I had the pump on Wed morning. UPS woke my *** up at 8 am with it. I asked for rush and did have to pay a little more. That was the best $20 I have ever spent on shipping.

I haven't really pushed the limits of my engine yet. I am still tuning and am actually going to be pulling the engine in a few weeks for some upgrades. After that though the supercharger goes in and then the fuel demands will be pushed.

The Holley pump that I have was very easy to install. It fit perfectly onto the thing in the fuel tank and all the hoses and electrical fittings are provided with the pump. Of course the hard, or just LONG part of the job is getting the damn tank out!!!

alrighty guys...well heres the latest news. got my tank out and took the pump out and tested the pump. it strated working randomly again. i was like WTF!!! so i plug the old pump to the car turn my ignition and it primed. really wierd. im thinkin it seized up or something. neways i hooked up the new Walbro and that worked fine. so i put everything back together at it fired right up took it up and down the street it and pulls fine. im really happy. only bad part i bent the part where u put gas. its bent there and also i found a crack where the gas enters the tank from the long nozzle part. i JB welded that and its fine, well almost.

my experience with JB Weld and gas tanks is......it will only hold for a little while. I would start looking for a new tank.

Glad to hear you got it done. That could not have been any fun in a driveway. Yeah, try to find a new tank, gas leaks suck...

If you don't feel like replacing the tank JUST yet, and the JB weld does start to leak, go the parts store and get some of the stuff designed to stop gas tank leaks. It looks like tar. Squish the two different compounds together and mash it in place ( technical terms ) it works very well. This thing plugged a leak I had in my old truck ( crack in the filler tube ) it held fine for 3 years.
