Should I rip it out?
Should I rip it out?
I just picked up an 84 TA with the cowl induction hood that has the setup where it hooks right up to the air cleaner lid and draws outside air in. All this stuff looks pretty restictive to me and it only comes open when you really step on it. I was thinking of ripping it all out to completely open up the hood scoop and going with a K&N setup with the air cleaner lid that is actually part of the filter and then the normal round K&N filter below it. Think that would be a wise move? I'm sure it would flow better than the stock set up.
give it to me
just kidding, but those things will get you some money on ebay or elsewhere if they still work
it might flow more air if you took it out but you might have the problem i've got of water getting on your filter when it rains....it doenst affect much though

That's the tough thing about it. I know that it would be an open hole to the elements. It really doesn't rain much here in Montana and during the snowy winters the car will be in the garage. With that thought I may just go for it.
for those of us who's cars didnt come with the fancy flapper, we had a metal plate that screwed in the opening. i still put it back in sometimes when i know there's gonna be a storm. you might be able to find one at a junkyard.....
