engine running hotter than usually does

okay here's the problem, My engine is running hotter than normal and hotter than it did last year at this time. My coolant is new and the level is correct. My timing is correct also. It is pinging once it get's hot. Today I seperated the radiator from the A/C condensor and the gap between them was full of everything from leaves to plastic. So I thought that might be the problem because it was choking air flow. Well it takes longer for it to get to the pinging stage now and I have more power, but I am still running hot and pinging. Do I need to buy a 160 degree thermostat or what. I have done everything that I can think of.

Thanks Drew

You might want to change your stat for PM. You said the level is okay, how about the water pump? Does the coolant circulate when you look into the radiator? Is there any stuff in the coolant? What are you using for a fan? If it is mechanical have you checked the fan clutch? Just a few thoughts I had. Good luck...

I have changed the fan clutch and the water pump with in the last 6 months so they are okay. Coolant was clean. I went out and bought a 160 degree thermostat and so far it seems to be running great .

Thanks Drew
