speedometer help

Ok I really need some help with this. I have an 87 GTA with the digital dash. Now the little computer in the center of the dash went out like last year and that is what reads my mileage. So its basicaly my odometer. Well I cant find one anywhere and I took it out a while back and put digital guages there while the car was down for a while. Now with the new motor about done I need to know some way to figuire out a way to hook up an odometer. I have no idea how to do this since the whole dash is digital, and the transmission has a electrical plug in it for the speedometer instead of a cable. So any help would be great.!! Or if anyone has or knows of a used one laying around..

thanx

no idea how to fix your problem but if you're just worried about oil changes and such why not get a hour clock like on heavy equipment and wire it to a hot wire. make sure it's hot only when engine is running. most i've saw are small and you could hide it anywhere.

I do not mean this to sound dumb. But have you checked the 2 light bulbs behind that part of the dash? I had this same problem in my GTA about 2 months ago. Replaced the bulbs and it works great.

GTA,

There are a few places that repair digital clusters, but they aren't cheap. You might try the repairs suggested, check all the edge connectors and power supply to the cluster. Failing that an repaired of salvaged unit may be your best answer.

Thanx guys. Yeah I have checked the bulbs, and everything else. The little computer just took a **** I guess. I hope to find one soon, because I am getting my motor back this week and hope to have it in the car and running by next. I might check into the hour guage thing though it might be a quick fix untill I get another one.

I was just over at the GTA Source Page, and there is a DIC for sale in the parts for sale section. 75.00 bucks.
